About

BPC-157 is a synthetic 15-amino-acid peptide derived from a partial sequence of body protection compound, a protein naturally found in gastric juice. It is one of the most extensively studied peptides in tissue-repair research, examined for its proposed role in angiogenesis (new blood-vessel formation) and in signalling pathways relevant to tendon, ligament, muscle and gut-lining repair. Its stability outside the body — it does not require refrigeration to remain intact for short periods — is unusual among peptides and is itself a frequently cited research finding.
